Press Release 10th April 2009 For Immediate Release Call for the Spring of the Global Hospitality Industry Hotelex Shanghai 2009 Concluded as A Big Success The 18th Shanghai International Hospitality Equipment & Supply Expo(Hotelex Shanghai 2009) concluded successfully on 3rd April at Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). As one of the most important exhibitions in hospitality industry, this year’s show set new records on the exhibiting scale, the number of exhibitors, the overseas exhibiting space, the number of visitors and the on-site events, etc. This year’s show reached 60,000 sqm by having more than 3,029 booth lots,. 751 exhibitors from 19 countries or regions came to participate, which is equivalent to 10% growth compared with the previous year. Half of the brands were big international brands. Italy and Spain stage in the form of national pavilions, all showing the overseas enterprises which are interested in the Chinese market. 2,200 sqm exhibition area for overseas exhibitors which was an increase of 28% compared with the previous year The 4-day show received 41,227 visitors, of whom almost 10% joint from oversea – which was a stable turnout compared with the previous year in spite of the global economy crisis. In recent years, with the continuous development of the global economy, the hospitality industry developed tremendously.. This market performance has been fully reflected at Hotelex Shanghai 2009, which is known as the benchmark of the hospitality industry in Asia. In spite of the global economy crisis, the expo trended up and got the majority of exhibitors and visitors staying firm to the exhibition. March 2, 2009 Hotelex Cup Chef Championship Staged at Hotelex Shanghai Organized by Shanghai CMP Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co., Ltd., Hotelex Cup Chef Championship is designed to create a bridge between kitchen equipment manufacturers, food materials suppliers and Chinese and Western chefs, to showcase the science and technology in cooking. The championship will present different regional competitions with first regional competition kicked off in Central China in Wuhan some time ago. The organizer hopes the championship can help to promote the catering equipment for local and international hotels, and to enhance the cooking skills. The jury is divided into technical judge and taste judge, and they are all the professionals who are the chefs from famous hotels, well-known cooks, trainers, leaders from related associations and sponsors. The championship gets the full support from the relevant associations. The competition teams were recommended by the associations, which have two contestants and one assistant cook.They are Chinese cooking 'elite' and come from high-star rated hotels or high level catering enterprises. The 2008 Shanghai Tourism Festival Golden Autumn Metropolis Tour Coffee Cultural Festival came to a successful conclusion on September 21. As an important activity in this Coffee Festival, the organisers held a special coffee entertainment show in order to encourage more foreign tourists and the public to participate in this annual cultural event. In addition to coffee music performances, there was a coffee cup charity bazaar, coffee-tasting sessions, coffee-making demonstrations and a coffee museum for coffee-lovers to play with coffee and experience the coffee trend of the 1930s in the Jing’an district of old Shanghai. The show used coffee machines and coffee beans, just as in the real competition. The coffee machine was the Italian brand “Astoria”, sponsored by Render Coffee (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., while the coffee beans were the French brand “Malongo”, sponsored by Beijing Wonder Zhong’s Coffee Equipment Sales Co., Ltd. Mr. Sun Xin, director of sales at Render Coffee (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., was invited to be a technical judge, while Mr. Zhong Lirong, managing director of Beijing Wonder Zhong’s Coffee Equipment Sales Co., Ltd. was invited to be a sensory judge. A total of six contestants entered the audience entertainment show, with three more people hoping to participate on site, creating a final total of nine people, who were divided into three teams. Each team had a professional teacher on hand and the six winners of the first round of the CBC - East regional competition to help make the coffee. The competition complied with WBC rules, but the time and competition-related rules were modified for entertainment. Each player had a total of 15 minutes, five minutes for preparation, five minutes to make the coffee and five minutes to clean up. Each player was required to make two cups of espresso and two cups of cappuccino in five minutes. The judges then picked the top three. After the entertaining show, the top three players are Mr. Milner, general manager of the Sofitel Westlake Hangzhou hotel; Mr. Zhou Hong Kong, a Taiwan compatriot born in Germany; and Kim Hang, manager of the F&B department at Hangzhou's West Lake State Guesthouse. Fang Yin from Zhejiang NARADA Grand Hotel, Zhang Chenlan from Radisson Plaza Hotel Hangzhou and Niu Niu from Swissotel Grand Shanghai also won great prizes. The players come from all fields, but they all shared a common love of coffee.
