China Barista Championship
Since 2003, Shanghai UBMSinoexpo is authorized to hold China Barista Championship (CBC). The national championship is processed by preliminary round in different divisions such as Each China, North China, South China and West China joined by baristas from that region and national-level Judges. Only few qualifiers would advance to the final CBC in HOTELEX each early April in Shanghai.
As the only world class level specialized coffee making competition in China, CBC is always devoted to promoting coffee and coffee culture and advancing the barista profession in China.
The 8th China Barista Championship — East China Regional Competition
The China Barista Championship — East China Regional Competition has been highlighted with one of the key events in Shanghai Tourism Festival in every Sept. Attracted more than 90,000 tourists, the recent one showed up in Wujiang Road, a famous pedestrian mall in Shanghai from Sep 15 - 17, 2009 as the spotlight of the 4th Metropolitan Coffee Exhibition Week. Combined with a Coffee forum “Enjoy Shanghai, Enjoy Coffee” as well as a workshop conducted by a Japanese judge certified by WBC to explain & discuss the rules and regulations of WBC. Around 100 professionals joined the forum to hear the in-depth topics, for instance, Coffee and Shanghai, how coffee business will be merged with Shanghai culture and the role that CBC played.
A total of 38 competitors participated in the championship. The coffee machine brand is LA CIMBALI which is provided by Jess (Shanghai) Trading Co.,Ltd.
During the Coffee Exhibition Week, the 7th China Barista Championship — China Representative Selection Competition was also closed successfully. The full sponsor Render Coffee (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. provided the “ASTORIA” coffee machine for the competition. The winner Mr. Zhou Yun-gui from Ningbo will go abroad to attend the World Barista Championship held in June, 2010 in London, UK as the only representative of China.
The 8th China Barista Championship — North China Regional Competition
As another important divisional event of CBC, the 8th China Barista Championship — North China Regional Competition staged from Oct 20 - 21, 2009 at Radegast Hotel CBD Beijing. Totally 34 competitors participated and after two day’s competition, only 6 qualifiers finally advanced to the final CBC which will be held in Hotelex Shanghai 2010.
This year’s event was strongly supported by Beijing Tourism Industry Association, China Coffee Association Beijing and so on. The coffee machine brand is ASTORIA which is provided by Render Coffee (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
